When we set out to design the brand for The Academy NY|LA, we knew it needed to be more than just beautiful—it had to embody their founder Michelle’s mission of body positivity, healthy self-esteem, and safe, effective training. The academy’s holistic approach to dance was all about taking shame and comparison out of the equation, empowering every dancer to feel their best.
From day one, we dove into understanding what makes The Academy’s method unique, and crafted a brand to truly reflect that spirit. We focused on creating a look and feel that speaks to inclusivity, support, and growth—prioritizing a child-friendly sense of warmth and community in every design element.
The visuals we chose convey movement and energy but in a way that feels approachable, not intimidating. The color palette was intentionally soft, welcoming, diverse, and still almost-neutral, reinforcing their commitment to positivity and safety, while still feeling dynamic enough to capture the strength behind the training.
This was a brand built to inspire confidence—from the youngest beginner to the most advanced performer—because when you feel good about yourself, that’s when you truly shine. And for me, that’s what makes this work feel like I’ve found my purpose.
